5 tips and tricks for cheap family holidays

So don’t wait, subscribe now, and save 20% on all packages 🧡 I have plenty of ideas for cutting costs and I am not afraid to use them. There are so many ways of saving money; keep reading and find some inspiration for economizing without affecting the quality of your holiday experience.

1. Hunting for cheap flights

Long-haul flights (as well as short, but not as much) typically offer amazing opportunities for saving some cash. However, sometimes you really have to go for great lengths to find them… 😉 Direct flights are doubtlessly the most convenient option, but… well, they are not always possible – and if they are, they can be really expensive. Sometimes all you have to do to cut costs is choose another airport; after all, most are available using public transport. Many of the trips I have planned started and/or ended at a different airport than the client originally planned. For instance, three plane tickets for a return flight from Basel to Olbia cost only 200 EUR – but the same trip from Zurich (only 80 km away from Basel) costs almost 550 EUR. The same date, the same destination, and almost thrice the price!

2. Flexibility

Flexibility and searching for cheap flights go hand in hand. In terms of means of transport or dates, it allows you not only to save a lot, but also to plan a trip that really matches your needs. Moreover, these days flexible options simply provide us with a sense of security and a guarantee that we can always change our plans without losing money. Insured, flexible flights, as well as accommodation booking that can be cancelled almost at the last moment without any fees are just two ideas for cheap and safe trips with kids. As I have already mentioned in this article, the need for broadly understood flexibility will probably stay with us for a long time; in fact, I myself have cancelled a few trips over the past few months – and it did not cost me a penny! 🧡

3. Travelling off-season

I love travelling the world off-season and I highly recommend it to all my Clients. Here you can read about fall trip ideas, but in fact any time of the year is great for a trip! If this is at all an option for you, a family holiday off-season will help save you a lot of money. For instance, Cyprus in March is warm, cheap, and pleasant, whereas in July… well, that’s a different story 😉

4. Research accommodation options

Holiday accommodation is a broad topic – it all depends on our preferences. Nonetheless, you should consider various options, such as renting a house or an apartment, a room in a guesthouse, a camping or glamping, old industrial spaces transformed into rooms for rent… or even a tent, rather than focus only on hotels. On the other hand, such a wide selection of different options means you may spend a long time searching for the perfect accommodation. My recommendation? Check at least a few websites – even if you have already found an ideal place, you may want to compare prices (especially on the place’s website– it’s also a good idea to message the owners/management!). You might be surprised how much you can save!

5. Plan in advance

Even though you can plan an attractive last minute trip at a reasonable price – for example, read this text – I have always been a huge fan of planning holidays well in advance. Such an approach, mixed with the already mentioned flexibility, is simply perfect: we can plan an amazing, dream holiday at a relatively good price. There are many options to choose from, we have plenty of time to think what we want and need, as well as to introduce any necessary chances, and the costs are noticeably lower. First minute offers don’t last forever, so remember that first come, first served!

For all those reasons, now is the perfect time to plan your holidays – be it next summer, or this winter. It’s fun to read about interesting places or follow other people’s adventures on social media, but it’s high time you created your own memories 🧡 Book now!
