Ko Lipe – endless summer in the dead of winter

Ko Lipe – a small exotic island located in southwest Thailand, close to the Malaysian border (see here and here) ❤️ So, how about a trip to Thailand?

An earthly paradise

Ko Lipe has an undeniably exotic flavor… and color. From the deep, emerald-blue sea, to the lush green of the jungle, to fine, white sand, Ko Lipe is just perfect for snorkeling and admiring beautiful sceneries. It’s a dream destination for everyone tired of the dull, smoggy European winter, especially due to the fact cars are banned there. The island is small enough to do sightseeing on foot (even with small children), and if need be, you can always hire an electric vehicle.

Fairytale sunrise and sunset

If your biggest worry on a holiday is whether to admire a sunrise or a sunset from your beach bungalow, you know that this is a truly dreamy trip ❤️ During my stay there we rented a bungalow at the eastern beach, which I believe to be the best option for families with young children – the long morning beach walks are unforgettable. Still, make sure to spend at least one afternoon and evening at the opposite beach; the golden hour spent chilling among palm trees at one of the local beach bars is an amazingly relaxing experience.

Ko Adang and the Tarutao National Park

Ko Lipe is located next to the Tarutao National Park, whose pristine nature and tropical character will make you feel like a Robinson Crusoe, no less. Ko Adang is a desert island from the same archipelago, with hardly any tourist infrastructure. We were lucky to spend a whole afternoon there alone, surrounded by the spectacular nature, the sea and beautiful views. Even thinking about it still gives me goosebumps!

How to get there?

Perhaps surprisingly, the easiest way of reaching Ko Lipe is to fly to Malaysia and take a boat from Langkawi.  Even though Ko Lipe is a somewhat touristy destination, it remains a genuine Thai paradise island ❤️ If you’re searching for a small, tropical jewel for winter, this is an ideal option.
